I've mostly just had first dates, and a few seconds. I'm a woman, early 30s.

Platforms:

• Hinge is my favorite, by far. Bumble seems very throwaway and not intentional. I have had a couple dates through it but it feels.. cheap!
• Your profile will largely shape what you and your matches talk about. Make sure to actually include things you enjoy discussing. Please don't mention pineapple on pizza. My god why is this so common
• Don't ever ?? me. Like please. If I'm not replying there's probably a good reason and hitting me with a question mark, or worse, TWO is the quickest way to unmatch. And I'm usually pretty responsive there's just the odd time when it becomes too much for me

Meeting up

• There is definitely a sweet spot for meeting up. Wait too long and your date might have filled their calendar or found someone else. Also don't do it in your first couple messages. I've sometimes agreed to dates before I was really sure I actually liked them and this is just a waste of both of your time.
• Don't be afraid to talk a lot before a date. If you're worried you're going to exhaust your conversation through a few days of texting - you're not going to be able to sustain a relationship, trust me. I like to book a date for a few days in the future, then chat, and it makes it easier to reference things during the date itself that we've discussed previously in a lower stakes environment

Rejection or success

• honestly, every guy I've rejected it has taken it really well. I do try to handle it with empathy, but it's been such a nice surprise since it's not easy for either party. I've been sort of ghosted once and I still feel weird about it. Don't ghost, people
• If you like someone, really try not to see them the next day. It's not a hard rule but it just seems to mess up cosmic balance or something lol. Build up that anticipation, let your body and mind recover from a great date.
